Underground Water Leak Detection In Smyrna, Georgia

Customer had water leaking inside the house through the concrete floor and outside of the house. The house had no shutoff valves in side or out for diagnostic work. We began by digging a hole at the house, we traced the line into the house and installed a shutoff valve on the polybutylene pipe where the pipe entered the house. We shut off the newly installed valve and determined there was a leak on the service line from the edge of the house to the newly installed valve. We pressured tested the lines inside the house and determined there was an additional leak under the slab on the inside piping. We determined the most economical route was to repipe the house since the inside piping was polybutylene and the cost of breaking the concrete and fixing at least two leaks and then repairing the flooring was more than an entire pipe replacement (that included drywall and painting). The repipe included a ten year warranty on the piping, repairing the polybutylene pipe under the slab would basically just be a temporary fix, waiting for the next leak to occur. The photo on this blog is what two slab leaks, one on the service under the slab and one on the cold interior piping under the slab, looked like showing up on the outside of the house.
